Mission's annual City-wide Garage Sale is scheduled for May 13, 14, and 15. Residents may register sales no later than Thursday, May 6th by calling 913-676-8350 or e-mailing msumrall@missionks.org. Garage sales registered for this event will not be counted against the two garage sales allowed per resident per year. A listing of all registered garage sales will be available to the public at City Hall, the Community Center, on our website, and at participating sales the week of May 10th.
The Mission Tree Board will be sponsoring their Annual Tree Sale on May 15, 2010. All plants must be preordered and paid in full by April 30th, with pick-up on Saturday, May 15th at the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center. Order forms are available using the link below or by visiting the Community Center, 6200 Martway. A full listing of plants for sale is available on the order form. KDHE has established a phone bank for concerned Kansans to call with questions regarding H1N1 Flu. The toll-free number is 877-427-7317. Operators will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday to answer questions. Persons calling will be directed to press "1" on their phone to be directed to an operator who can answer their questions. Kansans with questions about the virus can e-mail H1N1fluinfo@kdheks.gov. Information is also available from KDHE at www.kdheks.gov You may also check the CDC website at www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu for specific state to case count ratio and advisory information. The city is now accepting applications for the 2010 Neighborhood Grant Program. This program provides up to $500 to neighborhood groups for activities, such as block parties, that promote a sense of community.
